MEC Sasekani J. Manzini

mec of mpumalanga department

Sasekani Manzini, who was born in Bushbuckridge, in a village called Madras. Like many young people who were born around that time in our area I began school in Matikwane Primary School in Madras, and from that time my life has been characterized by both formal and informal learning. I completed my high schooling in Orhovelani High School in Thulamashe, and went on to complete my National Diploma in Marketing with the Durban University of Technology. I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Postgraduate Diploma in Public Policy and African Studies from the University of Johannesburg.

I am an activist who is committed to the fundamental transformation of our society, particularly improving the living conditions of the historically disadvantaged. My activism and commitment to building a better life for all has guided me in all the roles I have played both in the people’s government and our movement. I cut my teeth in government as a Liquor Inspector, and later went on to serve a Member of the Mayoral Committee responsible for Sports and later Technical Services, a member of the Provincial Legislature who chaired the portfolio committee on Women, Youth and People Living With Disabilities, MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport and now Health as well an APRM steering committee member.

I have served the movement first women Provincial Secretary of the ANCYL in Mpumalanga, I have had the burden to emulate that generation in order to break the glass ceiling for other women and young people. This, I have tried to do in all responsibilities the movement has given me, which include but not limited to serving as a REC and PEC Member of the ANC, and PTT member of Women’s League.
